Guajome Creek Railroad

The Guajome Creek Railway

Time for the 7th inning stretch, this will take a moment or two to load...
Back to Start

Crossing over the high trestle. Just under this is a cascading waterfall.

The diesel on the high trestle.

And again under it.

The steamer pulling out of Black Widow at the passing siding. This station was named for the inhabitant of SPIDER that frequents the buildings.

Traveling through the countryside.

There are a dozen dwarf Alberta spruce trees here in the mountainous region.

A bigger picture. All of the roads are made of concrete and covered with asphalt emulsion. Behind the freight station is a rock quarry that makes noise and emits smoke when trains go by.

Pulling out of the freight station. To the right is a Scottish castle that sits on Loch Briana.

Picking up speed. All of these images were captured from a video using a "Snappy".

Crossing by "Guajome Falls" This is a two level "scale" waterfall with the lower fall visible on the right.

Freight waiting to depart at Guajome Station. The lamps are from a Christmas collection.

Climbing the grade just past Guajome Creek. Most of the walls are carved concrete. (Carved when wet, of course)

One more shot of the cacti. Being in the San Diego area lets me buy plants wholesale from growers. A flat of 100 3 inch small cacti cost only $10.

On the high trestle. This train is on it's way to Guajome lake. After it circles the lake it will come back on the lower track. Right about here there is a train sensor that will signal the waiting train to pull out. In this way, there is NO WAY that there could ever be a collision between these trains.

Thanks for visiting the Guajome Creek Railway!
